FAQ > What is Social Security Disability? > Am I disabled if I can't do my normal work or if I can only do minimum wage jobs?
The test of disability in Social Security cases is whether an individual is able to work. Social Security does not require that the work be comparable in terms of compensation to past jobs the individual has performed. This means an individual may be denied if he or she is still able to perform another full time job, even it pays only the minimum wage.
